Specialized retinal photoreceptors absorb specific light, signaling the brain's suprachiasmatic nucleus to regulate melatonin and reset circadian timing.
The device emits bright, full-spectrum light, mimicking sunlight. This light, upon entering the eyes, signals the brain's master clock. It suppresses melatonin production and aligns the body's internal rhythms with the daily light-dark cycle.
Exposure to high-intensity light (typically 10,000 lux) acts on intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs). These cells project to the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the body's master pacemaker, to suppress the nocturnal production of melatonin and phase-shift the circadian rhythm, aligning it with the desired sleep-wake schedule.
