A little more technical

An occlusive wrap temporarily reduces surface water and softens skin; it does not destroy fat or remodel cellulite.

Body wraps exert their effects through various physiological pathways. Aesthetic wraps often induce temporary fluid shifts via osmotic pressure or diaphoresis, leading to transient circumference reduction. They can also enhance transdermal absorption of active ingredients. Therapeutic wraps, such as wet wrap therapy, provide occlusive hydration, reduce transepidermal water loss, and create a barrier against scratching, while compression wraps mechanically support lymphatic and venous return, reducing edema.
