- The first week brings the most discomfort, swelling, and bruising, managed with medication and a surgical bra. By week two, discomfort eases, allowing light activity. Swelling gradually subsides over several weeks as breasts settle. Most restrictions lift around six weeks, but final results and scar maturation can take several months.
