Incisions, discreetly placed, allow for tightening of the platysma muscle and removal of redundant skin, restoring a defined neck and jawline.
A surgeon makes incisions, typically hidden around the ears and under the chin, to tighten the underlying platysma muscle and remove excess, sagging skin.
The procedure involves cervicoplasty (the surgical removal of excess skin) and platysmaplasty (the tightening and repositioning of the underlying platysma muscle). Incisions are typically made post-auricular (behind the ear) and submental (under the chin) to allow for the redraping of tissue, plication or division of the muscle, and excision of redundant skin to redefine the cervicomental angle.
