- Follow a specific washing routine provided by the clinic to keep the scalp clean without dislodging grafts.
- Avoid hard exercise, heat and heavy sweating for 2–3 weeks
- No aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or vitamin E for 1 week, if your doctor agrees
- Expect swelling and tenderness for the first 3-5 days. Small scabs will form on recipient grafts, typically falling off within 7-10 days. The donor area may feel tight and sore for 1-2 weeks. Transplanted hair shafts usually shed 2-4 weeks post-op; this is a normal part of the process. New, permanent hair growth begins around 3-4 months, with noticeable results at 6 months and final results visible at 9-12 months.

How it works, and common myths

Genetically resilient hair follicles are harvested from a stable donor area and transplanted to thinning regions, where they continue their natural growth cycle.

A little more technical

A surgeon removes a strip of hair-bearing scalp from a donor area. Technicians then meticulously dissect it into individual follicular units under a microscope. These units are then carefully implanted into thinning areas of the scalp.

Autologous transplantation of follicular units is performed from the androgen-resistant occipital scalp (donor area) to androgen-sensitive balding areas. These transplanted follicles retain their genetic resistance to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), allowing for permanent growth in the recipient site.
