Before your visit: ask when to start
- Get medical clearance and lab tests first
- Set up your recovery space at home
- Arrange a ride home and someone to help you for 24–48 hours

After your visit

- No aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or vitamin E for 2 weeks, if your doctor agrees
- Don't sit or lie on your buttocks for 2–3 weeks (or as your surgeon says)
- Take short, gentle walks
- The initial week is the most challenging, marked by significant pain and limited mobility. Patients must avoid direct pressure on the buttocks, often requiring stomach-lying. A compression garment helps manage swelling. Light activities can resume after 2-3 weeks. Full recovery, including strenuous exercise, may take up to three months. Final results typically emerge around six months, once swelling fully resolves.

A little more technical

A surgeon creates a pocket inside the gluteal muscle and inserts a solid, soft silicone implant to permanently increase the size and enhance the shape of the buttocks.

Solid silicone elastomer implants are surgically placed in a pocket created within or beneath the gluteus maximus muscle. This provides a permanent increase in gluteal volume and projection, altering the contour and shape of the buttocks.
